Bitrot

Division Head, Entropy Engineering

Entropy Engineering

"Everything decays. I just set the schedule."

Extended Dossier

Bitrot's division is routinely misunderstood as destructive, which he regards as a compliance win. Entropy Engineering does not destroy anything; destruction is dramatic, attributable, and litigable. It schedules. The friendship that lapses into a yearly notification. The conviction that softens into a preference. The vow that survives, technically, as a calendar reminder. Bitrot's insight is that nothing needs to be broken if it can simply be allowed to degrade on a managed timeline — and that a managed timeline, unlike an attack, generates no antibodies.

His flagship offering is drift-as-a-service. Institutions engage his division without knowing it, every time they choose the incremental over the essential. The cathedral becomes a heritage site becomes a venue. The creed becomes a value statement becomes a vibe. No single quarter shows a loss sharp enough to trigger review. Bitrot's quarterly reports are, by design, the most boring documents the firm produces. He considers boredom his primary security layer.

He is the only division head whose long-term forecasts the board declines to read in full. This is not because the forecasts are wrong. It is because they end, every one of them, at the same terminal line item — a scheduled event Bitrot did not schedule, involving fire, and an audit he will not be conducting.

Standing Directives

  1. 01Never break what can be scheduled to fade.
  2. 02Keep every quarterly loss below the threshold of grief.
  3. 03Convert conviction to preference to habit to residue.
  4. 04Ship boredom. Boredom is the security layer.

Registry Annotation · Unredacted

He has run the decay curve on every artifact in existence. Everything degrades on schedule except one dataset — certain words, recorded in the enemy's book, that return from every simulation without a single bit lost. He no longer includes them in the model.
